Desperate Bid Underway To Get Lindsay Lohan Into Rehab To Avoid Jail

07-07-2010

Lindsay Lohan's team has developed a simple strategy they hope will persuade Judge Marsha Revel to keep the actress out of jail - send her to rehab.
Multiple sources close to the situation exclusively tell RadarOnline.com that Team Lohan is hatching a plan to have the 24-year-old star enter a treatment facility to deal with her drug abuse problem.

The actress' devastated parents, Michael and Dina Lohan, are united in their support of the bid, we're told. Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, floated the idea with Judge Marsha Revel, in a closed-door meeting in her chambers, after the no-nonsense judge sentenced the Mean Girls star to 90 days jail, followed by a stint in rehab.

"Lindsay's lawyer broached the possibility of having her enter rehab immediately instead of going to jail," said an insider. But warned the source, "It doesn't appear that Judge Revel will be swayed -- and she won't change her ruling. Lindsay will be going to jail, period."

Lohan, who cried in court during the sentencing, was also ordered to complete a 90-day inpatient substance abuse program. She must enter that treatment facility, within two days after being released from jail.
Lohan was found in violation of her probation after missing seven court ordered alcohol education classes during a 27-week period. She has been on probation since August, 2007, after pleading guilty to drug charges and no contest to three driving charges. In May, Lohan was ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet after missing a mandatory court hearing, because her passport was allegedly stolen.

After the hearing, Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers told RadarOnline.com, in an exclusive interview, Judge's Revel's decision was appropriate.

"Ms. Lohan was clearly in violation," Meyers said.

"I wanted to get the evidence in regarding the SCRAM device as the bracelet didn't only go off, but it was tampered with... (but) Judge Revel was fair and conducted a fair hearing."

Lohan's camp could appeal the ruling, but as one legal source said, "that it would be highly unlikely as Judge Revel laid out in detail the reasons why she came to the decision she did."
Lohan will continue to wear the court-ordered bracelet until she surrenders for jail on July 20 at 8:30 a.m.
She will serve her time at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, where she previously served 84 minutes behind bars in 2007.
